I echo the 24/192 outputs as others have shared above. It would be nice to use a regular AES/EBU cable instead of having to make or have made the current cable going from two RCA to AES/EBU, but that doesn't seem feasible given the analog output board's layout. It would be nice to be able to buy such a cable along with the AES configuration of the Vanity board (bundled).

The new Oppos will not feature built-in app functionality. For those of us that use services like Netflix or AIV, that will mean we need to hook up a separate device through the Oppo HDMI input. The only time I've tried this was with a game console into a 105D via HDMI, and there was noticeable delay between sound/video and controller movements onscreen. My concern with the new Vanity board is that there would be significant audio delay when using HDMI in, such that lip sync would be off, etc.

I use both hdmi-inputs on my BDP-103 with Vanity103HD, and I have no problems with lip sync, or something like that.

Hi guys,
A quick update regarding the supported sample rates. Although many previews mentioned 384kHz and 768kHz PCM and DSD128 in multichannel and DSD256 in stereo, the official specifications remain quite conservative:

Audio format support has been expanded to multi-channel DSD64/128, as well as 192kHz/24-bit PCM used in high-resolution lossless formats such AIFF, ALAC, APE, FLAC and WAV. (DSD64 is played back in native mode or converted to PCM, DSD128 converted to PCM.)

We already have the UDP-203 on our bench for testing. It is still possible that higher sample rates will be added later with software updates. Stay tuned.

Regards,
Pavel

We are tuned!
It is important that no pops/clicks/static or other bad sounds is outputed, if a format not supported by the vanityhd-card is being played by an future firmware in the Oppo.

Yes, we are considering on-board I2S output.

It would be very nice if the volume-control in the oppo could affect the output of vanity203.

I disagree. Digital out should be fixed. If you want volume control, stick with the analog outs or buy an outboard DAC/preamp.

The problem can be to synchronize the volume control of 8 digital channels. In my system, the dsp/dac can control only 4 channels togheter per device (dbx4820).

Another example, you might output the eight digital channels from the Oppo into 4 MiniDSP OpenDRC for nice FIR-processing of all the channels. But how to control the volume togheter? Turning 4 knobs every time you want to change volume?

I actually know of no products taking in 8 digital channels spdif or aes-ebu, and then controling the volume of them togheter. Do you zonto?

There are many scenarios where volume-control is best suited to be done in the source.

If volume set to 100 (max) in the Oppo, then the original untouched digital signal should be sent out, off course.
