What kind of devices takes I2S input? Some DAC on the market?
The only ones I know of is MiniDSP DIY kits.

I am afraid the VanityHd can output only what it gets from the player, which is 8 channels, nothing less, nothing more. The release date is not known yet. We already have the UDP-203 on our bench, but due to some new features it will take a couple more months to have a finished prototype. Production will follow shortly. The progress will be reported here once we reach the prototype milestone.

I am also interested in the digital volume control. (with the possibility to bypass it)
If I am not wrong, on 24 bits material, a few dB down does not alter the sound quality at all.

The DAC-card in BDP-103 and BDP-203 looks in pictures to have the same dimensions physically, and same looking connectors.
What happens if you install a Vanity103HD into and BDP-203? Would it work?

Yep, it has been a while. We are still waiting for the prototype boards to come back from production. They should be in at some point next week. I will take some photos and post them here. The connectors are the mostly same, but physical dimensions and connector positions are slightly different, so you cannot fit Vanity103 into UDP-203. It would not work anyway, since the DAC and communication protocol are different.

Here we go, the Vanity203HD is born

There have been a few updates of the circuitry such as larger FPGA, more powerful regulators, higher precision DAC for the oscillators, onboard I2S output connector and USB interface for software update. Now the remaining piece of the puzzle is the FPGA and MCU software update, which we hope to get done in the next few weeks. Please bear with us, we are getting there.
