Hi all,
Finally, the full-featured module for Oppo BDP-103 Vanity[sup]103[/sup] HD is in production and we are accepting orders. The expected manufacturing lead time is 3-4 weeks.

As already announced elsewhere, the feature-richer models now have "HD" suffix for easier identification.

The module is functionally identical to the Vanity[sup]93[/sup] HD and has the same specifications. Below you can see a photo of the prototype. Should you have any question, don't hesitate to ask here.

Regards,
Pavel

May I know if Vanity 103HD and Lite are compatible with Oppo 103 as well as Oppo 103D ?

Can it output DSD if needed?

Thx.

Hi dh,
Vanity103 modules work fine with both - standard BDP-103 and BDP-103D players. The audio section of both players is identical, the only difference is in presence of Darbee upsampler. Raw DSD output from the Vanity modules is not supported.

Pavel

Hi Pavel,

How much trouble would there be to develop a version with AES/EBU out?

Hi Gadgety,
There are not many differences between SPDIF and AES/EBU. Since the output of the VanityHD is isolated and fully balanced it is not difficult to adapt the output to work with AES/EBU. We can increase the output level to 1Vpp with 110R load impedance and provide additional ground connection with the top row of unused RCA connectors. Then only a simle XLR->2xRCA adapter is needed to interface AES/EBU with the VanityHD.

Pavel
