Problem with USB Output board on a Win7 PC

Post by r_g »

Hello,

I'm a new owner of a Vanity Pro HDMI and this is my first post here.
I bought this device together with the USB output board because I like to apply room correction with DIRAC on my PC.

As you can read at the headline I need this on a Windows 7 SP1 PC.
I downloaded the following driver from Audiopraise :
https://audiopraise.com/downloads/firmware_loader/STM32_drivers.zip

After extracting there is also a Windows 7 Subfolder.
From there a called : ..Win7/x64/dpinst_amd64.exe
The installation went without an error. Everything was fine till this moment.

After that I connected the Vanity Pro HDMI with the PC, but unfortunately the needed driver is not installed.
The device is visible in the windows device manager, but with an exclamation mark.

I tried a Win10 PC and there the device was immediately recognized without any separate driver.
But like I said; I need this on a Win7 PC.

I tried to update the driver for the device and pointed to the folder with the Win7/x64 driver but I get the 'Best Driver Software Is Already Installed' error.
( see attachment )

Any ideas what else can I try for a proper driver installationen on a Win7 PC?

Reiner

Hi Reiner,
Thank you for your question. I have replied to your web form inquiry directly via email, but I will leave a response here too for others. Windows 7, unlike Windows 10 with native support, require a dedicated USB audio driver. The one on our website you tried to install is for the firmware update, not USB audio. Unfortunately, Windows 7 is no longer supported operating system and we won't make the USB audio driver available to download from our website. Having said that, we can provide experimental driver for Win7 on ad-hoc basis. Please email us for more details.

Hi Pavel,

Thank you so much for the Windows 7 driver for the USB Output board.
I installed the driver and tested it with the Lifeprofessor program from audiostrom.
I use the asio4all driver to grab the Signal from the Vanity Pro HDMI.
After some fiddling with the asio4all settings it worked very well.

The audio routing is as follows.

Bluray Player
-> Vanity Pro HDMI
-> PC (still Windows 7) with Lifeprofessor VST Host
---> ASIO4All driver
---> DIRAC VST3 Plugin in Lifeprofessor
-> Virtual audio cable
-> ASIO Link Pro
-> exaSound E68 Out

One note : I needed ASIO Link Pro for routing to the E68 because the driver from ExaSound is not visible from within ASIO4All.

It's working like a charm and with a very low latency.
The audio is completly 'in time' with the video on the TV-screen.
With the applying of the DIRAC room filter together with the reclocked Audio from the Vanity Pro the multichannel-source of a bluray is so much clearer.
At the moment I'm VERY satisfied with the Vanity Pro HDMI. :)

Again, thank you.

Regards
Reiner
