Upgrading HDMI Firmware ends with NOK

Post by bas303 »

Hi folks,

I've tried to upgrade the HDMI firmware to V35A1but it ends with an NOK message on an INIT cycle. I've tried to flash twice, fully powered off the device for some time, but this problem remains.

Are there particular steps I can try to get my VanityPRO in working condition again?

The only Windows machine we have in our home is a Windows 11 laptop. We're mostly a Mac household. Please prioritize allowing firmware updates from multiple platforms.

I tried running Windows 10 in a Virtualbox VM on my old Intel Macbook, installed the firmware loader, with STM drivers and the C++ redistributable having the runtime140.dll and accompanying files and the firmware uploader starts up fine. However, trying to flash the V35A1 firmware results in NOK, just like with the WIN11 machine.

I'm out of options this way.

Maybe good to also mention that the firmware uploader software itself does not error out

Dear Bas:

You will see in the other thread about glitches on playback that I found the latest Firmware to be totally successful. No more glitches for me! I was only able to install this firmware using a borrowed genuine Windows 10 machine. We too are a Mac House. It is an unfortunate situation, and I can't imagine why your virtual machine did not work, but I can confirm that installation was successful with a real Win 10 machine. Good luck.

Forget trying to trace the part about confirming DFU in the device manager. Just follow all the instructions in the manual and when you runthe firmware loader if it shows the name of the new firmware go ahead and install. It takes some time to count down the samples, so be patient.

I had previously installed the new HDMI. If your Vanity does not show the correct HDMI firmware you must install that first before the audio firmware. Good luck,

Bob

Hi folks,

I’ve been able to get my Vanity Pro upgraded by JVB, the distributor in the Netherlands. So I’m all good now!

I want to thank JVB, Audiopraise, and community members for all being responsive and trying to help. I fully understand that the firmware flashing issue is not an Audiopraise issue but from their embedded chipset manufacturer. I hope they will step up and improve the experience for the future.

Cheers,

Bas
